間 MELLEMRUM

is at the Annaborg Art House in Hillerød
October 15 to November 22, 2020

7 Japanese and 7 Danish - installs art in each their own room, the 14 rooms will appear as individual works each.

The 14 artists are selected and represent 7 different art forms / media, and are matched so that each artist can reflect similarities and differences with a colleague from Japan / Denmark respectively.

The artists are paired up like this:
Anne Bjørn / Satomi Kashio
Pelle Møller Schiødt / Shigeo Otake
Carl Emil Carlsen / Kazuki Hitoosa
Thora Finnsdottir / Mariko Wada
Nes Lerpa / Yoshio Nakajima
Serine Sinding Yde / Suzumi Noda
Stinne Bo / Yuko Takada Keller

The title of the exhibition  ‘間 MELLEMRUM’(space, gab, in-between) can be interpreted quite concretely; as artists and works that are separated by walls.
Or the artists can interpret the subject freely; as a distance, for example, between the two cultures, between artist and viewer, between people, the viewer as spaces, or as voids, openings, intervals, breaks, distinctions ..…

間 Mellemrum show the artists' different interpretation of the subject.
How much influence do the different cultural backgrounds have?
What are the differences and similarities? Is 'art' the universal language?
In addition to experiencing the works and interpretations of the individual artists, the audience can also actively participate in an experiment in one of the rooms.

The exhibition takes place in Kunsthus Annaborg, which is managed by Hillerød Kunstforening. The house is beautifully located at the entrance to Frederiksborg Castle surrounded by a garden in which also come works by some of the exhibiting artists.

The exhibition is organized by a private curator, in collaboration with the Hillerød Art Association and with great help from visual artist Yuko Takada Keller, who handles communication with the Japanese artists.
